The Blue Chip Ranch is a small rural ranch located in Fremont County, Wyoming owned by Bruce and Gail Jacobson. Bruce and Gail are both Wyoming born and raised and University of Wyoming Alumni. Bruce is originally from Jackson, and Gail grew up in Diamondville. The Jacobsons got their start in the ranching business in 1980 with the purchase of 35 1st calf Hereford heifers from Bruce’s “Uncle Archie” McKay in Idaho. Bruce and Gail grew their cow herd to over 300 over the next 28 years until they were forced to sell all of their cows and half of their land, mainly due to low cattle prices and the lack of affordable summer pasture. However, the Blue Chip Ranch was able to diversify and now Bruce and Gail produce high quality alfalfa hay, barley, oats, handmade leather products, and they also maintain a small herd of registered Quarter Horses.
